Profile

The Cantonese congregation was formed in 1995 as a result of church planting by the Rev. Rick Cheung, the then Commissioner of the Anglican Chinese Mission of the Epiphany Inc. It joined St. Michael and All Angels Bennettswood in 2000 to form a bi-lingual parish. St. Michael and All Angels merged with St. Theodore’s Surrey Hills to form St. Thomas’ Burwood in 2007, under the leadership of the Vicar, the Rev. Chris Appleby. The combined membership now stands at more than 150 regular attendees. At present two worship centres are maintained, but a new combined church building re-development is in progress.

本堂的廣東話堂會成立於1995年，由當時聖公會顯現堂張志明牧師植堂而成。 於2000年與聖公會聖米迦勒堂合併成為一個雙語牧區。 聖公會聖米迦勒堂與聖腓奧多堂在2007年合併成為現今的寶活聖多馬堂，現任主任牧師為Rev. Chris Appleby。新合併的堂會約有150名經常出席崇拜的教友。 目前本堂仍保留原來的兩個崇拜中心， 但重建新禮拜堂的計劃現已進行中。

The Cantonese congregation has about 50 members consisting mainly of families and young adults, mainly migrants and students from Hong Kong. In addition to the Sunday service there are two fellowship groups: the Rainbow Fellowship (age group 18-30) and the Livingstone Fellowship (age group 35-80+). Turnover of young members has been high due to overseas students returning home after graduation. There is a Cantonese Sunday school running with small numbers.

The services use mainly a traditional Anglican liturgy with a contemporary service organised by the young people on the 1^st Sunday of the month. Cantonese is the language used and, if our preacher is English-speaking, translation into Cantonese will be required.

本堂會主日崇拜主要是以傳統聖公會禮儀進行， 但每月第一個主日是由青年人主理的較現代化的崇拜。 一般主日崇拜以廣東話進行，但若講道者是以英語證道，則本堂亦會即時傳譯講章。

Job Description (Cantonese Minister) (Part time)

1. To assist the Vicar in providing pastoral care to the congregation, taking particular responsibility for the Cantonese-speaking congregation members.

   協助主任牧師各項牧養工作，特別要負責說廣東話的教友；

2. To have the oversight of the Cantonese Sunday service;

   負責照顧及安排廣東話崇拜；

3. To preach regularly at the Cantonese Sunday service. This would normally involve up to three sermons a month.

   恆常在廣東話崇拜中證道，通常每月有三次；

4. To translate the sermons preached in English at the Sunday service.

負責主日崇拜中英語證道的傳譯；

5. To train Cantonese-speaking leaders in basic Christian ministries.

   培訓廣東話教友作基督徒事工的領袖；

6. To lead at least one weekly Bible Study in Cantonese.

   每周帶領最少一次的廣東話查經班；

7. To visit Cantonese-speaking members and newcomers on a regular basis;

   恆常探訪廣東話教友及新參加的會友；

8. To provide spiritual guidance and mentoring to Cantonese-speaking members.

   向廣東話教友提供靈性的輔導及指引；

9. To be available for emergency pastoral counselling as needs arise.
   在需要時提供緊急輔導服務；

10. To lead workshops and ministry activities for the congregation as required.

    帶領/策劃工作坊及各種事工活動；

11. To meet regularly with the Vicar and other ministry team members;

    恆常與主任牧師及其他同工商議事工發展；

12. To provide a written report to the Vestry once a month;

    每月向堂議會遞交書面報告；

13. To provide a written report for the AGM once a year.

    每年向會員大會遞交書面報告。

It should be noted that all ministry staff are expected to be regular members of the congregation at Sunday services.

所有牧養團隊成員均需要出席所牧養堂會的主日崇拜。

Basic Criteria 基本要求

• Must be passionate about spreading the Gospel to others. Should be capable of applying a variety of teaching approaches. Must be a good listener.

• Ability to provide vision/direction for the future of the Cantonese congregation in consultation with the Vicar.

A self-starter who thinks strategically about what to target, how to achieve this and who to choose for strategic tasks.

有獨立能力、策略思考、能有效地推展聖工。

• Ability to develop members with spiritual maturity as well as leadership skills, so that the Congregation will grow in maturity and in size.

  能培育教友的領導才能及屬靈知識，使教友的人數與個人靈命不斷增長。

• Have completed or be near completing a Theological degree/Diploma.

已完成或即將完成神學文憑或學位課程。

• Will be required to pass a National Police Check and hold a Victorian Working with Children Check.

必須通過國家警察局檢測並持有維省青少年工作檢測證。

Remuneration 薪酬

Remuneration will be paid according to the rates set by the Anglican Diocese of Melbourne for clergy and Authorised Stipendiary Lay Ministers. These details can be provided on request.
