St Thomas' Burwood

George Hemmings

Assistant Minister / Curate

George grew up in Queensland, but has been living in Melbourne for over a decade so he is almost ready to call himself a Victorian!

His whole life was turned around when a friend at boarding school told him of the love and acceptance we find in God through his Son Jesus Christ.  Although George started University with every intention of becoming a mad scientist, his life was turned around again when he was challenged to think about going into full-time ministry.  After graduating, he began a two-year ministry traineeship and then spent another two years managing a book store where he was able to indulge his love of reading and serving people, whilst going through the selection process for ordination into the Anglican Church.

George spent the next four years studying full-time at Ridley Melbourne, where his life was turned upside down again when he met Sarah.  They have since married and now have two beautiful twin boys, Micah & Joshua.  When he's not busy running after them, George enjoys reading, researching George Herbert, and watching really good TV shows.

George is passionate about ministering to children & families, preaching and teaching from God's word, welcoming people into their local church and into God's Kingdom, and helping people have an impact in their local community.  As these are all things he will be doing at St. Thomas' he can't imagine a better place to be!

George can be contacted on 0408 598 648 or at george(at)stthomasburwood.org.au
